'Birmingham - City of the Future'

An exciting event for EVERYONE! We're aiming to bring together a number of experts on economics to discuss how we can provide a platform for economic sustainability in Birmingham.

This event intends to bring together a variety of people from all walks of life, and discuss something we all have in common: concerns about our economy.

Most people have some kind of opinion about 'where our economy is' at this moment. Birmingham Friends of the Earth is hosting an event which takes those opinions and directs them into a discussion on action for a sustainable future which works for everyone.

The evening will see a panel of four economic professionals including representatives from the New Economics Foundation and Centre for a Steady-State Economy, propose 3 items for a ‘manifesto for a city of the future’. The manifesto will look forward to what our city could be like if we adopted different economic policies and practices.

The items proposed by the speakers will then be cross examined by a panel of representatives from local organisations and residents, then opening the discussion up to the audience.

The evening is to be chaired by the Birmingham Post editor, Alun Thorne.

It is going to be an exciting event that brings to life a subject that previously people thought rather dull, but is now on everyone's lips.
