Local Access Forum and lIving Streets
The opportunity has arisen for people interested in open spaces and rights of way in Birmingham to join the Local Access Forum (LAF).
The Countryside and Rights of Way (CROW) Act (2000) requires local authorities to set up and facilitate LAFs. The Birmingham LAF is a statutory advisory body which reports to the City Council and they are keen to attract someone from Birmingham Friends of the Earth. If anyone wants to see the detailed background papers, can they please get in touch with me at Birmingham Friends of the Earth, on 0121 632 6909.
On March 8th, the Pedestrians Association (now re-branded Living Streets) held a meeting to celebrate the first anniversary of the Birmingham branch. Branch members have been active in the preparation of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council's Walking Strategy and have also participated in the Eastside Sustainability Advisory Group. Anyone with an interest in walking issues can get in touch with Living Streets by emailing livingstreetsbirmingham@btopenworld.com
