Are you plagued by speeding traffic?

If you live in or know of a street or area blighted by speeding traffic please tell us about it! We want to raise awareness of the impact of speeding on people's lives and communities. We can offer advice on what you can do about it and/or help you to start your own campaign to stop the speeders.

Wednesday 10th December 2003 is a national day of action on traffic speed, co-ordinated by Transport 2000. Groups all over the country will hold peaceful demonstrations to protest about speeding traffic in their streets. In Birmingham, Transport 2000 is teaming up with Birmingham Friends of the Earth to offer help and advice.

More than 3400 people are killed on our roads every year and ten times as many are seriously injured. Speeding traffic kills: if you are hit by a car at 35mph your chance of surviving is only half that of someone hit at 30mph. Speeding traffic can make roads too frightening to use on foot or by cycle, but throughout the UK people are succeeding in making their streets safer through schemes such as "Home Zone's".
