Who We Are

Running since 1973, based in The Warehouse since 1977

We’re one of the biggest groups in the Friends of the Earth (EWNI) network – a unique network of campaigning groups working in over 170 communities across the UK, and part of the largest international network of environmental groups in the world, with affiliates in over 75 countries.

Our Structure

Friends of the Earth (Birmingham) Ltd has a different structure from most local groups. Because we have a building and run different activities, we have a larger structure with more responsibilities. We’re a Community Benefit Society – a type of co-op.

Our volunteer campaigns group plans and carries out campaigns. Our Board of Directors is elected by members at the AGM to oversee all BFoE activity – running the Warehouse, managing finance, employees and building users. It delegates campaigns activity to the campaigns group.

Membership

Membership is open to all who support our aims. To join, either support us through regular donations or volunteering and pay £1 for a nominal share, or become a Community Investor through one of our Share Offers.
