Pete Martin has been working with us as the Maintenance Volunteer Coordinator for 9 months now and it is quite easy to say that he has transformed the building during this period.

We wouldn’t have been able to get through the heavy rain without his valiant efforts to re-route the guttering and fix the roofs. We wouldn’t have been able to install the explosion release panel for the biomass hopper without his carpentry talents. We wouldn’t have been able to complete all those fiddly little time consuming jobs that make life in the building so much easier, without his diligent and thought-out approach to maintenance. We wouldn’t have been able to work with so many volunteers, changing their lives and getting them jobs, if it wasn’t for Pete being Pete.

In fact the only drawback to the whole thing is the amount of effort required to not smile when he is telling an inappropriate joke and his unnerving ability to (almost) always be right.

He doesn’t suffer fools gladly and has been impressive in his ability to get people to up their game. It is infrequent that you find someone as multi-talented, who is able to traverse the world of construction, management and paperwork in the same breath.

Thank you Pete for all of the work that you have done. If the funding doesn’t come in to keep you here, then I hope you will still come in to say hello and see how we are doing.
