Birmingham Friends of the Earth have signed a joint letter calling on the Government to stop its efforts to proscribe Palestine Action. This is a shameful abuse of anti-terrorism legislation by this government, and follows a growing movement to crack down on non-violent direct action (NVDA) groups whose aims are to stop mass destruction, whether climate change or genocide.
While Friends of the Earth (Birmingham) like all FOE groups operates within the law we recognise the validity of NVDA and support the rights of others to participate in it. This crack down is an attempt to intimidate and divide our movements.
We are discussing with other organisations how we can provide a safe environment for those seeking to participate in NVDA – both individually and by making a stand together in solidarity.
