We’re taking part in The Climate Coalition’s Common Grounds Day of Action on October 12 2024 to demand a fairer future and we hope you can join us!
The 12 October will see thousands of people from across the UK come together to demand a fair and bold climate plan. The Climate Coalition’s Common Grounds Day of Action marks 100 days since the new UK Government was elected.
This is an ideal opportunity to meet with Birmingham MPs. Here at Birmingham Friends of the Earth we are supporting Zero Hour’s Climate and Nature (CAN) Bill campaign and in the lead up to the 12 October we are asking MPs to support and propose the CAN Bill as a private members bill.
Will you join us on 12 October? We need as many MPs as possible to advocate in parliament for a fair and ambitious climate plan. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Join with others in your community to contact your MP to ask them to support the campaign and meet with you on the 12 October (or anytime before then). We have a template letter with suggested areas to personalise and examples you can draw inspiration from/use parts of in your letter. You can find out who your MP is on the Write To Them website.
- Don’t be disheartened if your MP doesn’t respond. Join in a creative photo action and letter hand in outside your MP’s office on 12 October, time TBC. To ensure we have the capacity to meet all Birmingham MPs and/or hold a photo action outside their office, we need as many people as possible to join us. Let us know if you’re planning to join the photo action and letter hand in by registering. Details of timings will be announced ASAP. If you want to get more involved we are looking for people who can coordinate a photo action in their constituency.
