This month Fossil Free UK tour will launch the fossil fuel divestment movement in universities, churches and communities across Britain, and it’s coming to Birmingham on 31st October. The UK student campaigning network People & Planet has teamed up with 350.org and Operation Noah to bring Bill McKibben, Kumi Naidoo and special guests together for an event unlike any you’ve ever been to!

As with previous sold-out tours in the USA and Australia, McKibben will make the case for how the core business model of the fossil fuel industry is destroying our climate, and poses the greatest threat humanity has ever faced. The campaign is modelled on the anti-apartheid movement of the 1980s, which helped to end the unjust system in South Africa.

The Fossil Free UK tour isn’t your typical lecture – it will include inspiring speakers from across social movements, powerful videos, and music from the ground-breaking artist Filastine

McKibben will bring together, on stage and via video, an impressive group of social movement leaders, organisers, climate scientists, and opinion leaders to make the case that divesting from fossil fuel companies is not just morally just, but ecologically and economically smart.

The Birmingham leg of the tour is taking place in the Great Hall of the University of Birmingham. Doors open at 6pm and the event  starts at 7pm. Tickets are available now from the Fossil Free website
