Join our Left Out in the Cold photo action on Saturday 9 March in Northfield.

Friends of the Earth has recently published a new report – Left out in the cold: the hidden health costs of Britain’s cold homes. The report by Professor Sir Michael Marmot’s Institute of Health Equity examines the latest evidence and most recent findings on the mental and physical health impacts of cold homes.

Everyone deserves a warm home that doesn’t cost the Earth so we need our elected representatives to take urgent action to:

  1. Provide support for households facing soaring energy bills
  2. Roll out a programme of insulation to improve Britain’s heat-leaking homes
  3. An energy system based on cheap. green renewables

To highlight the Left Out in the Cold report and to show decision makers there is support in Northfield for the campaign we are organising a photo stunt and we hope you can join us. We have invited Gary Sambrook MP and general election candidates.

Below are the details of the photo stunt and you can download the report and share it with your networks.
Date: Saturday 9 March
Time: 12pm
Location: Outside Northfield Leisure Centre (Northfield Leisure Centre (B31 2PD) is on Bristol Road South, at the southern end of Northfield High street (other end to the shopping centre where we held our previous Warm Homes event). It is on, or very close to, the following bus routes: 18, 19, 20/A, 27, 39, 55, 61, 63, 878, and is a bit of a walk from the 76 and 46 routes. It is 0.6 miles from Northfield train station, so probably at least 16 mins walk, though that is mostly uphill to get there.)
Other info: We will be bringing along our community quilt which is filled with messages from people living in Northfield and from across the city. Bring a hat, scarf and gloves.

Afterwards you are welcome to join us for a cuppa at a nearby cafe.

If you need anymore info email info@birminghamfoe.org.uk and RSVP so we can send you the latest details.
