You might not imagine a SCUBA diving school to be particularly ‘green’ or particularly polluting but one school in Tenerife has taken litter picking to new depths. Riaans Scuba give their customers nets which they can fill up with detritus from the sea bed and bring back to shore to claim a discount. The owner of the school, Riaan, rescued a marine turtle injured by a spear, which following veterinary treatment, was released back into the sea. The turtle family now know and trust Riaan with the result their divers are able to get up close to these creatures.
