We welcome the update on the WMCA scheme of 2019 given on BeHeard Birmingham. In the Revised scheme, the following have been taken out of the scheme; the widening of Moseley Road for a fourth lane, the narrowing of the pavements with removal of street trees through Balsall Heath, removal of the pedestrian refuge in Moseley village. . That leaves some bus lane and parking restrictions, to be implemented in the next few months.
This followed a petition with hundreds of names collected by Birmingham Friends of the Earth, plus and detailed objections from organisations and individuals having a concern about Balsall Heath and Moseley. Also the City Council’s new Birmingham Transport Plan – not to mention the pandemic, and a start on the passenger rail stations (another long running BFOE campaign)..
