Hello, my name is Yoana and I would like to share my experience as Birmingham Friends of the Earth volunteer. Having a special interest in the issues affecting the environment, I wanted to become part of a community that encounters those issues and brings them to the public, so I thought that Birmingham Friends of the Earth would be a great experience. After two months of volunteering, my expectations were justified. Being part of their campaigns is an opportunity to do work based on my values, to expand my knowledge of the environment and to obtain plenty of other skills, such as campaigning, material production and research. What makes my experience even better is the friendly and warm work environment, the campaigners’ engagement and the idea that my passion for the environment has become my motivation to do meaningful work.
