Coventry Friends of the Earth have made climate change their number one priority for 2004, joining forces with Christian Ecology Link (a multi-denominational UK Christian organisation for people concerned about the environment) and Green Energy UK for 'Operation Noah'.

Operation Noah is a nationwide challenge to stimulate more effective governmental policies which would underwrite renewable sources of energy and promote a change in culture and attitudes towards energy and climate.

The campaign comprises two activities: the Rainbow Pilgrimage and a ‘climate covenant’. A two-fold leaflet sets out the main arguments for the reality of climate change and asks the reader to ‘sign the climate covenant, take action yourself and spread the word’. Signatories undertake to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions. All covenants will be delivered to the government prior to the next Climate Summit.

The Rainbow Pilgrimage begins with a conference at Methodist Central Hall, followed by a march through Coventry and a service in the Cathedral, on Saturday 9th October. For more information visit www.christian-ecology.org.uk/noah/index.htm.
