A nuclear accident like that in Japan or Chernobyl releases large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere devastating all living matter – nothing escapes.
This toxic matter seeps into our rivers, agriculture and livestock and the consequences are horrific.The following conditions are just some but not all of the health risks associated with being in a radiological environment:
- Thyroid cancer
- Leukaemia
- Mutations
- Down syndrome
- Cleft lip/Cleft palate
- Negative effects on pregnancy
With the after-effects of nuclear disasters expected to last for up to 100 years – combined with the fact that we now have a safe alternative; renewable energy, do we have the right to take the risk for our children’s children?
