For In Town Without My Car Day 2010, we are challenging organisations to get thier employees to leave the car at home for the day. We’ve already had some positive and some negative responses and at the end we’ll produce a league table of how they’ve all done on our challenge.

stickerBelow is the scoring system we’ll use for compiling this table:

Scoring System for ITWMCD 2010

Companies/organisations will get a point for each of these and all those challenged will be ranked according to their responses. For most of these, it’s a tick-box yes/no method.

Have they agreed to do it?

Have they put up posters/stickers to advertise it on their premises?

Have they put a notice on their website?

Have they sent something round on the intranet?

Will the head/leading managers set an example?

Have they appointed someone to monitor how it goes?

Are they offering an incentive to leave cars at home?

What percentage reduction can they achieve on the day? 10%/25%/50%/more

Do they know how many people get in without a car already?

Do they have a sustainable travel policy/plan in place?

Are they signed up to travelwise, or will they sign up?

Will they put in place measures to continue the good work?

We are also look for a way to measure how much CO2 will be saved on the day and if we could translate those actions into daily habits.
